“CSS with Superpowers”

Imagine not having to write .main-nav ul li 25 times when styling your WordPress menu, and no more copy/pasting hex codes just to get a slightly darker color. The things on your CSS wishlist, Sass actually does. Need more convincing? Read this.

But maybe you don’t feel like spending an entire weekend pounding your head against your laptop, figuring out how to get set up. Come to this evening workshop and we’ll walk through it all, step by step. You’ll have Sass up and running in your projects by the end of the night!

The Plan

In the first hour, we will focus on the underlying concepts of Sass. What is it and what does it do? Then we’ll go through some of Sass’s basic features and functions so that you have a solid foundation of how to use it.

In the second hour, we will get Sass installed on your computers and get our hands dirty in the terminal. Then we’ll set up a project and get coding! Experience the magic. Since the workshop is limited to 5, you’ll have lots of 1-on-1 attention to make sure you get the most out of the night. Be sure to bring your laptop!

October 15, 7-9pm at New Work City.

Note that this is an intermediate level workshop. You should have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, and be comfortable with concepts like file paths and general project structure.

About the Workshop

This is the second iteration of “An evening with…”, a monthly-ish workshop series addressing specific topics in front-end design and development, ranging from beginning HTML/CSS to more advanced topics like Git and Sass. Last month was Responsive CSS Layouts, this month Sass, next month…you tell me! Drop me a note and tell me what you’d like to learn.
