CSS layouts are tough…I don’t care who you are!
Floats and clearfixing are just hard concepts to grasp, and building layouts in CSS the proper way is no small feat. Come to this evening workshop and learn to create your own responsive layouts. Where and when, you ask?
August 21, 7-9pm at New Work City
Use the code “salmon” for $25 off.
Schedule
In the first hour, we will cover the concepts behind floats and when (and when not) to use them. We will then learn about grids, and how to make our layouts responsive.
In the second hour, we will build our own layouts from scratch, and experiment with a simple twelve column grid. If all goes as planned, you will be a master by the end of the night!
Prerequisites
A beginning to intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS is required for this workshop. You should understand the structure of an HTML document, the concept of file paths, and how to apply CSS styles to HTML tags from a separate stylesheet.
Also, take a few minutes to read CSS Floats 101 to familiarize yourself with the concepts ahead of time.
You will need:
- A laptop (Mac preferred, but Windows is totally fine)
- Sublime Text 3
- Google Chrome
As usual, the workshop is limited to 5 people to ensure you get the most out of the night. Sign up now!
About the “An evening with…” series
I’m starting a monthly-ish workshop series called “An evening with…”. Each workshop addresses specific topics in front-end design and development, ranging from beginning HTML/CSS to more advanced topics like Git and Sass. Of course there will probably be some WordPress too.
Stay tuned!
