A quick take on CSS drama 🔥

I’ve been somewhat checked out of Twitter, etc. for the past week and returned to a fresh round of CSS drama. Here’s my take: it’s noise.

I’ve been somewhat checked out of Twitter and Slack rooms for the past week or so, and there is a new round of anti-CSS sentiment based a Twitter poll that revealed the majority of respondents do not understand the cascade.

This type of drama used to rile me up quite a bit, but it didn’t bother me so much this time. Maybe I’m growing up, or maybe it’s because I’ve been reading a bit about economics and a bunch of self-help, but it is clear to me that everything about this is noise.

I don’t have any other data than my own experience handy, but over the past seven-ish years, the overall value of CSS knowledge – both in terms of pay and what you can do with it – to me, appears to be on the rise.

But…people like to argue, so let me get off my high horse and back to watching from the sidelines ✨.
